19th & 20th June 2015
After rehearsing throughout a bitter April and May early in 2015 May Hill Players staged a modern version of William Shakespeare’s famous Midsummer Night’s Dream in Anne and Trevor Seymour’s vast back garden on a thankfully not too cold and, on occasions, even sunny two late afternoons in June. The audience were encouraged to bring along picnics (and plenty of wine and blankets) to contribute to a fun open air event.
Richard Pett directed the play bringing his own odd-ball approach to the production complete with recorded musical and weird dance arrangements. The cast of fifteen, almost exclusively female, threw themselves lock, stock and barrel into the occasion producing quite outstanding performances while adjusting superbly to the many challenges of an outside production.
The Society hopes that al fresco productions will become a regular annual event.
